As part of a new feature I will call “World’s stupidest products” or “Do people really buy this stuff?”, we have the Mail a Spud service. And yes, it’s exactly what you think it is. It’s a Russet potato with stamps on it that is sent through the United States Postal Service first class mail direct to your mailbox. The potato isn’t shipped in a box or an envelope. It’s just as you see above. Why? I don’t think there’s an answer to that question that makes any sense. Especially when you learn that it costs $9.95 for one potato and not two potato, three potato, four. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Seriously though, they want you to pay $9.95 for an ordinary potato. Most grocery stores around here sell a bag with several pounds of potatoes for half that price. As a gag gift or a prank it could be funny, but I think it’s just wasteful and dumb. What do you think?
