AV-Test, an independent IT security institute, has just published its latest detailed test report for Android antivirus apps. Evaluating 30 different antivirus apps, from well-known players such as Lookout and F-Secure to more obscure apps like Ikarus and MicroWorld, the test confronted each app with the same reference set of 1,972 security threats, and evaluated the detection rates of each app. Not all antivirus apps for Android catch all of the threats which are currently in the wild, and there are few things worse than a false sense of protection.
